Me with the former Susan G. Komen spokeswomen, Jenne Fromm, at closing ceremonies
I walk in this event every year because my Grandma Shirley died before any of her grandchildren were born due to breast cancer. I don't want anyone to miss out on a lifetime like that. I want my children and grandchildren, and my friends' children and grandchildren to know their mothers and grandmothers.
A big aspect of this event is the fundraising. Every year we are REQUIRED to raise $2,300. This requirement means that if I can't raise the money, then I'm paying for it myself. And if I can't get my friends and family to donate, then I am more than happy to donate to this amazing cause. But I would love to get everyone I know involved and make them aware of how important this is. This walk, for me, doesn't just mean a cure for breast cancer. It means a cure for ALL cancer.
We've all been touched by the devastating effects of cancer. I wish I could have known my grandmother. I wish my stepmother hadn't suffered so much through chemo and radiation. I wish my friend and former pastor, John could work and ultimately retire the way he had always planned. And cancer stands in the way of all of those things.
This year has been a big one for me and my family. Surgeries, pregnancies, engagements, moves, etc. I could have used any one of these as an excuse to take a year off from the 3Day. But I don't want to. This cause and this event is so important to me and I will continue participating in it until there is a cure.
PLEASE considering donating this year. Every bit makes a difference. Trust me, I understand not having much money to spare, but anything that you could send towards this cause WILL help someone.
Please click here and donate whatever you can!
